Kendal at Oberlin tops Ohio's list of favorites
Kendal at Oberlin is one of three Lorain County nursing homes and assisted living facilities named in the top 25 facilities in Ohio, based on a residents satisfaction survey.
Receiving high marks in a 2009 Long-term Care Resident Satisfaction Survey released by the Ohio Department of Aging are Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake, Kendal at Oberlin and St. Mary of the Woods in Avon. They received scores higher than 90 out of 100.
Residents of these facilities were asked to rate their satisfaction with the facilities environment, activities, administration, direct care/nursing assistants, laundry, meals and dining, social services, therapy and overall satisfaction.
The average nursing home satisfaction score statewide was 85.85. Of 955 participating nursing homes, 506 scored above the statewide average, which makes them eligible for an additional quality point in a reimbursement formula used by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
The second survey was of residential care facilities. Of the 558 participants, 317 scored above the statewide average of 92.07.
