Serio
Ilene Kleinert Serio, mother of Pat Serio of Oberlin, died Thursday, May 27, 2010.
Born in Bay City, Mich., in 1922, she worked as an air traffic communicator at Cleveland Hopkins Airport during World War II.
She married Bill Serio and raised three children. She worked as an activities director at several nursing homes, including Eliza Jennings and West Bay Manor.
She was known for her excellent cooking and baking skills, and enjoyed reading and aerobics classes. For many years during her retirement, she volunteered leading tours of Playhouse Square theaters.
Mrs. Serio is survived by her three children, Marsha Serio (Ken Matuszak) of Bowling Green, Pat Serio of Oberlin and Fred Serio (Sue Ann) of Cleveland; one grandson, Ben Serio of Phoenix, Ariz.; a niece Karen Duke of Bay City, Mich.; and many grand dogs.
Services were Tuesday, June 1, at First Church in Oberlin. Busch Funeral and Crematory Services of Fairview Park handled local arrangements.
