OVI charges dropped against Lakewood man

Charges were dropped against a Lakewood man accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after the prosecutor determined the arresting officer had no probable cause to arrest the man.

The case against David Crowell, 36, of Lakewood, was dismissed on Tuesday, March 2, according to Oberlin Municipal Court records. According the prosecution's motion to dismiss, the officer did not smell any alcohol on Crowell when he was stopped in the early morning hours of Jan. 11.

The motion further stated Crowell made no admission of consuming alcohol and he passed all field sobriety tests.
