Ohio Dance Theatre will hold auditions, June 6

Ohio Dance Theatre will host an audition for its newly formed ODT Youth Ballet on Sunday, June 6 at 3 p.m. in the third floor dance studio of the ODT studios located at 39 S. Main St. at the New Union Center for the Arts. Auditions are for intermediate to advanced male and female dancers ages 12 to 21.

The Youth Company will provide young dancers with performing experiences that include outreach performances at area schools and community organizations, repertory performances including the North Eastern Ohio Dance Festival, Story Ballets and an opportunity to dance alongside the Ohio Dance Theatre's professional dancers in their annual production of "The Nutcracker." The company's first performance will be July 31-Aug. 1 when the dancers present "Peter and the Wolf" and "Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" at the Warner Center in Oberlin.

Students accepted into the company will train with the Ohio Dance Theatre School's faculty in addition to occasional guest artists in a broad array of classes receiving instruction in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz body alignment and conditioning.
