POLICE REPORTS


• Aug. 18 at 11:54 a.m.: A bicycle was stolen from a home on Edgemeer Place. A report said police found three juveniles on bicycles near the house who were identified as the suspects. The case is being forwarded to the Lorain County Juvenile Court for charges.

• Aug. 20 at 7:19 p.m.: Aireal Arnold, 29, of Elyria, was charged with theft of $27.32 worth of food items from Wal-Mart.

• Aug. 21 at 9:33 a.m.: Officers responded to a burglary complaint on South Professor Street. A report said someone broke into a house and removed approximately 180 feet of three-fourths inch cooper and 60 feet of half-inch copper pipes.

• Aug. 22 at 12:09 a.m.: Ezekial Chaney, 35, of Oberlin, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension, and driving with only one headlight.

• Aug. 22 at 10:32 a.m.: A woman is seeking menacing charges against a man who allegedly threatened to slap her on Tappan Square.

• Aug. 22 at 11:35 p.m.: Sean Champe, 46, of Oberlin, was charged with domestic violence. A juvenile told police her father was drunk and was hitting and choking her step-mother and throwing glass inside the house. A report said Champe allegedly got into an argument with his wife and started throwing her things out of the house and choking her.

• Aug. 23 at 2:12 p.m.: Police responded to a man having a psychotic episode near Oberlin College’s Carnegie Hall. A report said the man was taken to the Nord Center in Lorain.

• Aug. 24 at 7:14 p.m.: Charles Coleman, 25, of Wellington, was charged with theft of an Airsoft pellet gun at Wal-Mart.

• Aug. 25 at 2 a.m.: Police responded to a telephone harassment and menacing complaint at Wal-Mart. A report said a man calls the store 40-50 times a day asking to speak with an employee. When told she does not work at the store anymore, he allegedly used obscenities and threatened to shoot all the employees.

• Aug. 25 at 10:39 p.m.: Officers responded to a criminal damaging complaint on East Lorain Street. A report said a woman’s boyfriend allegedly damaged $710 worth of items inside her home before leaving.

• Aug. 26 at 6:45 p.m.: A woman reported her son was has been missing since the previous Monday night. A report said the woman expected her son home Tuesday morning. She believed him to be in West Virginia because he has gone there in the past. The boy is six feet tall, 155 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo on his left and right forearms, angel wing tattoos on each shoulder, and two stars with music notes tattooed on his chest. As of Tuesday, police did not notate that the boy had returned.

• Aug. 26 at 7:04 p.m.: Alexis Stevens, 47, of Oberlin, was charged with theft from Wal-Mart.

• Aug. 27 at 12:07 a.m.: Alexandria Zimmerman, 25, of Oberlin, was charged with driving under suspension and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. A report said an officer pulled over Zimmerman after she was seen traveling 30 mph in a 25 mph zone and he was told she had two active in-state drug offense license suspensions.

She told police she knew her license was suspended, did not have proof of insurance on her, and had work privileges to drive her vehicle but did not have proof of them. Oberlin’s K-9 unit was used to search the vehicle and a container with suspected marijuana, a metal spoon containing suspected marijuana, two vapor smoking devices with suspected marijuana and an unknown liquid inside, and rolling papers were found in the car. Zimmerman told police she did smoke marijuana and drank wine before the traffic stop.

• Aug. 27 at 3:45 a.m.: Joshua Rodriguez, 35, of Wellington, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and contempt of court.

• Aug. 27 at 9:09 a.m.: Police responded to a vandalism complaint on West College Street. A report said the front window of the Carlyle Shop had a three-and-a-half-foot-long crack.
