Children from the Oberlin Early Childhood Center helped city employees plant two new ginkgo trees Friday along South Main Street for Oberlin’s Arbor Day celebration. Oberlin buildings and grounds director Dennis Cuthbertson talked to students about the different types of trees that grow in our area, what grows on trees, and what can be built from trees. The children also listened to resident Una Baumann read a book called “If I Were A Tree.” Each received the chance to use a shovel and put dirt around the new trees to help hold them in place.
