17 seats filled, 11 remain open on Oberlin commissions

Staff Report

Sixteen residents were approved last Monday by council to fill 17 empty seats in Oberlin’s boards, commissions, and committees for 2016.

Eleven seats remain to be filled in six groups, but three of those seats are filled by the city manager and two council members.

“We did not have as many people as we would have liked to have,” said councilman Ronnie Rimbert.

Sharon Soucy, Elizabeth Meadows, and Rimbert are part of council’s nominating committee, which appoints members to each group.

Soucy said a few of the boards had two or three outstanding candidates for the open seat.

Anyone interested in being on a board, commission, or committee should contact the council clerk Belinda Anderson.
