Feeling stressed? Need a break? Just looking for some good, clean fun?

Get ready for Oberlin’s 24th Annual Family Fun Fair and Classic Car Show, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday at the north end of Tappan Square.

“The fair is an all-out celebration of fun and family. In these trying times we need community events that bring us joy and laughter,” said Janet Haar, director of the Oberlin Business Partnership, host of the event.

Kids of all ages will be entertained by the boogie-down sounds of the Summer of 65 Band from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with dancing in the streets.

There will also be a hula hoop contest, magicians, clowns, strolling princesses, face painting, a big wheel contest, bounce houses, a 50-50 raffle, and street food from food vendors and local restaurants alike.

To round out the fun, take a toss at a dunk tank and plunge some familiar faces into the water to raise money for charity.

Car buffs will enjoy the magnificent, gleaming cars of yesteryear at the fair’s car show. The first 150 entrants receive dash plaques. Plaques will be awarded in eight categories including original cars, truck, street legal modified, two-passenger and collector’s class, and Best of Show.

Want to try something amazing? Try the new game sweeping the globe: bubble soccer. Started in Germany as “loopyball,” players don plastic bubbles and bounce off each other. This year the fair will also feature laser tag and two bounce houses.

From 2-4 p.m., enjoy music by D.J. Larry Farnsworth with Sounds of the Classics. There will be a live radio broadcast by WDLW 1380 AM “Kool Kat Oldies” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Oberlin merchant sidewalk sales will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be vendors with jewelry, handmade totes, gourmet food, skin care products, and more.

Haar said proceeds from the fair will help the Oberlin Business Partnership, a nonprofit group, host more family-friendly events including the summer concert series and Festival of the Trees in the fall.

Sponsors include Northwest Savings Bank, Kendal at Oberlin, Herrick Jewelry, Edward Jones, Business Advisory Services, the city of Oberlin, The Chronicle, Oberlin News-Tribune, The Morning Journal, Oberlin Town Money Saver, The Gazette, BMW of Westlake, Deichler’s Auto & Tire works, East of Chicago Pizza, Gary’s Auto Body, Oberlin Auto Clinic, Oberlin Cable Co-Op, Oberlin Midas, Pappy Bob’s BBQ, Precision Automotive, Ratsy’s Store, S&S Auto Repair, Sperry Gorske Agency, The Tuck Shop, Ultimate Landscape, Totally Floored Flooring America, and the Rotary Club of Oberlin.
