Oberlin High School principal William Baylis attended a conference from July 14-17 at Loyola University in Chicago.

Baylis was one of just 50 principals from around the world attending the conference, according to the conference host, Discovery Education, a company that sells digital technology and other services to schools.

The trip was offered at no expense to Oberlin taxpayers.

The conference was on how principals could use technology to improve their leadership and the leadership of teachers as well as how to better promote their schools’ achievements through social media.

Baylis was selected through a competitive application process that included written and video statements about how he would use what he learned to improve his school.

“I’m excited to share these new, creative strategies and techniques for advancing student achievement,” Baylis said.
