An elderly woman was taken by Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after a two-car crash at approximately 3:15 p.m. Friday at the intersection of state Rt. 58 and Russia Road.
She was traveling south as a passenger in a Chevrolet Trailblazer when a northbound Isuzu Rodeo, driven by a juvenile, failed to yield the right-away while turning left on Russia Road and caused the collision, according to Sgt. Pablo Cruz of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The Trailblazer was driven into the yard of a private residence before coming to a stop in the northbound lane on Rt. 58.
According to responders, the elderly passenger was flown due to both the crash and unrelated health conditions.
The driver of the Rodeo and female driver of the Trailblazer were taken by ambulance to Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin for precautionary reasons but seemed to escape serious injury, said Cruz.
A large amount of gasoline and transmission fluid leaked onto the road from the Trailblazer, which was being cleaned up with absorbents and swept up as the helicopter made its way to the scene.
