Girl Scouts Troop 50191 of Oberlin made a huge impact with its annual Thanksgiving food drive. Heinen’s in Avon donated 200 grocery bags, which the girls placed on front porches throughout Oberlin, along with notes requesting community members to open their hearts and contribute nonperishable food items. A week later, the troop collected the filled bags and ended up with more than half filled. The girls were able to help families at Prospect School by giving them all of the necessities for a Thanksgiving dinner and a huge supply of groceries. This is a tradition the troop has been doing for the last five years. It also decided to give all of the remaining food to the food pantry at Sacred Heart.
