New city manager Rob Hillard was welcomed by Oberlin council members at their meeting Monday. “We just wish you all the best and we’re there for you,” council president Ron Rimbert said.

Hillard, city manager in Allegan, Mich., from 2005 to July, and a former Yellow Springs city manager, began Monday. He told council he was grateful for the opportunity and excited about the new job. “I’m just tickled to be here and be able to serve the community of Oberlin,” he said.
