Two women were taken to the hospital after a head-on crash at 3:09 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of US 20 and Gifford Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lorain County sheriff’s deputies, and Camden Township firefighters responded to the call and saved a woman trapped in a GMC that had its nose crushed in. Firefighters used tools to crack open her door and pull her to safety.

The OSHP said Jukun Jin, 42, of Elyria was traveling east on US 20 behind a motorcyclist who was preparing to turn left. She swerved left of the center line to go around the motorcyclist and hit Ellen Powell, 67, of New London, who was traveling west on US 20 in a black GMC.

Powell and Jin both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Oberlin Mercy Allen Hospital.

State troopers said charges are pending against Jin.
