Ed Hendershot said he would have walked until he dropped. At 79-years old, he traveled from Veterans Memorial Park in Lorain to Wright Memorial Park in Oberlin on July 4 to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. For 15 miles, he repeated a simple mantra: “Don’t quit, don’t give up.” His newfound hobby started last year when he turned his daily walks into a way to honor veterans. “Normally, I just walk for myself. But I got to thinking, ‘This is a little bit selfish of me,’” he said. Hendershot said he is willing to walk across Ohio to get his message across: You’re never to old and it’s never too late to love your country and your fellow Americans.
