Time is running out for those thinking about seeking public office in Oberlin.
The deadline to file petitions with the Lorain County Board of Elections is 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, which is 90 days prior to the general election.
All Oberlin city council seats are open this November. So far, only council president Ronnie Rimbert has filed to seek reelection.
Three Oberlin City Schools board of education seats are also up for election. President Anne Schaum has filed to seek office again.
Other nearby races include two Camden Township trustee seats and fiscal officer; four Kipton council seats; two New Russia Township trustee seats; two Pittsfield Township trustee seats; and three Firelands school board seats.
