A tour of EMC Precision in Elyria gave Lorain County JVS juniors some valuable insight Oct. 6 on Manufacturing Day.
Students from the computerized design and drafting and precision machine technology programs toured the plant, including quality and engineering departments.
“This tour gives my students the opportunity to see the other side of manufacturing, which is the hard work and dedication that happens after the initial products are designed and the prototypes are made,” said instructor Stormy Rush. “They get to see the final product produced, manufactured and shipped to the customer.”
EMC Precision, its employees, and the JVS have a close connection, as numerous employees are JVS grads.
Luke Wright, group leader for the mill turn, assembly, grinding, finishing and honing departments, is a 1997 alumnus and has been with the company for 20 years. “The JVS students we have currently are doing an excellent job. They are reliable, dependable, they want to learn, they try hard and they excel very fast,” he said.
