Reinhold, Thomas are undefeated in tourney
On Saturday the 17th Langston Invitational Wrestling Tournament was held at Oberlin High School with eight teams participating. Two LMS wrestlers won individual championships and another took runner-up honors in front of the hometown crowd.
Eighth graders Tyler Thomas (122) and Michael Reinhold (172) each went 3-0 on the day to capture the top spot on the podium.
Thomas had an opening round pin and won a 3-2 decision in the semifinals. Trailing 2-0, he needed to score a 3-point nearfall in the third period to gain the win. In the finals, he ended the day with a third period pin. Earlier in the season, he placed second at the JB Firestone Tournament. He improves to 10-2 on the season.
Reinhold, seeded first at 172, secured three pins on his way to the championship. For his outstanding performance, he was voted Co-MVP by all the coaches. This is his second championship of the season as he placed first at the JB Firestone Tournament. He improves his record to 12-0 with 12 pins.
Grant Hudnell (245) was crowned runner up at heavyweight. With only two entries at the weight, he wrestled a best of three -round robin. He lost both matches for second place.
Also participating in the tournament were teammates Ivan Smith (86) and Davis Brehm (150).
Nash Jones and Max Glickhorn were injured and did not wrestle.
Next on their schedule will be a double dual at Clearview with Keystone and Wellington on Thursday, Jan. 21, starting at 4:30 p.m.
