An offensive jam for the Lady Phoenix combined with a strong Buckeye team Saturday cost the Oberlin varsity girls a 49-18 Patriot Athletic Conference loss.
The Bucks made 21 points in the first period, enjoying an early 16-point lead. Oberlin held Buckeye to only five points at the start of the second half but could only finish four points themselves.
Aszure Chamberlin led the team with nine points on the night.
The Lutheran West Longhorns secured a 22-point win last Wednesday over the Lady Phoenix. Oberlin trailed 9-2 after eight minutes of play with the only basket coming from Chamberlin.
The Longhorns applied high pressure on the ball, forcing turnovers and extending their lead to 23-8 at halftime.
Oberlin found a groove offensively in the second half, scoring 18 points, but it was not enough to defeat Lutheran West, who won 48-26. Chamberlin led the Phoenix team with 13.
