The scales could have tipped in Wellington’s favor. But as fate would have it, the Elyria Catholic Panthers — who have proved daunting opponents time and again in the district tournament — sealed a 2-0 win in the final last Thursday. With their season over, the Dukes girls (13-3-2) claimed the district runner-up title.
