School endowment board seeks volunteers

The Oberlin Schools Endowment Fund is looking for several new members to serve on its board of trustees.

Established in 1986, the OSEF board works to raise awareness and money and then provides grants to the Oberlin City Schools to enrich educational and extracurricular offerings for students.

Gifts to and returns on the fund have provided more than $530,000 to enhance the local schools. The fund’s value exceeds $800,000, of which nearly $40,000 in grants are offered each year to engage students in classrooms, field trips, art, music, athletics, and more.

Ten volunteers fill positions on the board, which is organized into task forces with specific areas of focus including fundraising, publicity, and grant-making.

Board meetings are held approximately once a month during the school year. Task-forces meet as needed.

If you are energetic, community-minded, trustworthy, and enthusiastic about making the Oberlin school system better through public awareness and philanthropy, consider joining the board.
