OUR QUESTIONS

We asked Pittsfield Township trustee candidates two questions to help inform voters as Election Day nears:

1) Why have you chosen to run for Pittsfield Township trustee and what issues are you passionate about?

2) What do you think should be done to grow, expand, or keep the township stable in the next four years?

Mark Diedrick

1) I have chosen to run for re-election as Pittsfield Township trustee as I feel over the last 25 years as trustee I have kept the agricultural community together. I am very passionate about agriculture, and by being trustee I feel I can continue leading this township in a positive way. I will continue my stance on keeping the roads upgraded as needed, making sure the roadway ditches are cleaned and draining as they should, and by working with storm water programs.

2) Over the next four years, this township will grow and expand by the addition of a new township maintenance garage. I have been involved in planning this new feature for the township. Along with the new building, more parking will be added to the current town hall, and the possibility of a walking area around the park. I would like the community to be more involved within the township. I take pride in this township by working with the community and helping with dumpster days and 4-H and Boy Scouts clean-up days.

1) I am running for Pittsfield Township trustee because of my love for our township and our rural way of life. Being the third generation of the Bartoto family to grow up in and now own the family farm house, I feel it is my duty to ensure our community stays rural, maintains the values it was founded with, and remembers the history that made us who we are. As president of the Pittsfield Township Historical Society I have strived to improve our sense of community. Now I feel it is the time to step up and take on greater responsibility.

2) I believe our township is already very stable and I personally would rather we stay rural/agricultural rather than have us developed further. What I would like to do if elected is focus on the areas that need improvement, which I feel are communication, infrastructure, maintenance (roads, cemetery, buildings, equipment), and park space. As time goes on I do think that threats to our way of life like the sewer sludge pond will continue to pop up and it will take a vigilant united community effort to ward of those threats. I would like to be a leader of that community.
