An Elyria driver is accused of leaving the scene of a crash on Oberlin-Elyria Road inside Oberlin about 2:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
A complete police report was unavailable Monday, but police Sgt. Patrick Durica said both drivers received minor injuries. He said driver Ruth Wade, accused of fleeing the scene, told officers she left because she didn’t have auto insurance. Wade was stopped by Wellington police at McDonald’s on North Main Street in Wellington.
Durica said the driver, a 17-year-old girl, was in a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am that turned from Parsons Road onto Oberlin-Elyria Road and struck the 2003 Saturn View that Wade was driving head-on.
The girl, address unavailable, hadn’t been cited as of Monday. Wade, 58, of Oberlin, was charged with failure to stop after a crash.
An arraignment has been scheduled for Friday.
