Demolition started Monday at The Oberlin Inn, a Lorain County landmark that opened in 1955. The Inn closed May 16 following completion of phase one of Oberlin College’s $38 million Gateway Center project at East College and North Main streets. That first phase included construction of a huge convention center and retail space. Demolition is being done by Cleveland-based B&B Wrecking & Excavating and is expected to be completed by month’s end.
