Gas line rupture closes Rt. 58

Evan Goodenow | Oberlin News-Tribune

A gas leak on Rt. 58 detoured traffic for about two-and-a-half hours Monday. A fire report was unavailable Monday, but the property owner at 109 North Main St. said he was digging a hole for a mailbox post in the front yard of the home when he hit a gas line. Firefighters and police were called at 2:07 p.m. and closed off North Main between Rt. 511 and Walnut Street. Columbia Gas workers responded to the scene and traffic resumed flowing normally about 4:30 p.m.
