More than 70 members of the Oberlin High School Class of 1976 enjoyed a weekend they will never forget. Their reunion began with a meet and greet at the Feve, where hugs, conversation and laughter filled the upstairs room. The class was welcomed by principal William Baylis with a guided tour and updates that have occurred since they attended the school. A picnic was held at New Russia Township’s Nature Preserve. A semi-formal dinner and dance was held at the New Russia Township Lodge. A candle was lit and names were read in remembrance of 21 classmates who have passed. Tributes were given to Jim Donovan, Sue Brady, Jesse Reader, and Jean Bay for being outstanding teachers and leaders. Margaret Lambie and Joe Harris also were in attendance and Lambie enjoyed dancing with the class on the dance floor. Sue Shubert and Kathryn Isabell were surprised by a standing ovation, cards, flowers, and their reunion payments were returned for the outstanding job they did in planning the reunion. Ron White put together a band that had the class dancing the night away. Class members were able to take a part of Oberlin with them through donations by Oberlin merchants that were used as door prizes. As the evening drew to an end Isabell brought the class together in a circle for a prayer of thanksgiving and protection.
