Boom was truck hitting pole

The driver of a pickup truck that struck a utility pole across from the Mickey Mart at 155 South Main St. about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday wasn’t injured. Witness Randy Smith said he saw the Chevrolet pickup driving southbound then heard a boom. The pickup snapped the pole downing electrical lines then traveled about about 30 yards before stopping. Driver Matthew James, 23, of Oberlin, was cited for failure to control, according to a police report.
