Tree clean-up money approved

Tree removal from a harsh Sept. 10 storm cost $41,000. Oberlin city council members on Monday approved the payment to Amherst-based ECO Tree Services. Council added $75,000 to Oberlin Municipal Light and Power System’s tree removal budget, which includes money for the payment. The remainder is for any removals needed later this year. The money comes from a budget transfer within the utility. An approximately 70 mph microburst of wind during the storm downed electrical lines and trees throughout the city. It left 3,000 Oberlin Municipal customers without electricity.
