Hey kids — don’t end up bored during spring break. Take a hop around the globe and explore different culture with “Around the World in Three Days.”
The Oberlin Heritage Center will present the spring break mini-camp from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from March 21 to 23 at the Oberlin Depot, 240 South Main St.
It will look at the lands and traditions of the Arctic peoples, Australia, West Africa, and India. OHC staffers Amanda Manahan and Mary Manning will lead the camp, assisted by adult and teen community volunteers.
Manahan is the museum education and tour coordinator for the Heritage Center and holds degrees in anthropology and museum studies with a focus in museum education and interpretation. Manning is an AmeriCorps member working in Northeast Ohio as a Local History Corps volunteer through the Ohio History Connection. She has degrees in art history and French.
The fee for the three-day camp is $70 per child ($60 for children and grandchildren of Oberlin Heritage Center members). Register by March 1 and there is a $3 discount. Partial scholarships are available to those who qualify for free or reduced lunch programs at school.
Make a reservation at www.oberlinheritagecenter.org or by calling the Heritage Center at 440-774-1700 to request a registration form. For more information, contact Manahan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
