Arrest made in Davis murder

Khorey Banks, 23, has been charged in connection to the murder of Steven Davis nearly two years ago.

Davis was found dead Nov. 24, 2015, in his apartment at 40 Locust St., just off South Main Street.

The 24-year-old was shot in the head and chest with a handgun and was found by his cousin, who called the Oberlin police.

Ten months after his death, the homicide case was cold. Out of leads, Lt. Mike McCloskey said he hoped someone would come forward with new information to reignite the investigation.

After two years, Sgt. Steven Chapman and Det. Jessica Beyer were able to establish that Banks was present at the crime scene, the chief said. Davis appeared on investigators’ radar pretty quickly, said McCloskey, but Davis’ active social life rendered many suspects.

Davis was involved with drug activity, according to McCloskey, who believes it may have been a motive for the homicide.

Police charged Banks with aggravated murder, two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, two counts of tampering with evidence, and theft.

He is being held at the Lorain County Jail on $2.5 million bond.
