Retired teacher sees value in levies

To the editor:

As a retired teacher, volunteer in the Oberlin Schools, and longtime resident, I am voting yes for the two Oberlin School renewal levies on March 15.

Issue 25 helps keep the day-to-day operations of the school like art, music, and supplies available for students. We are fortunate in Oberlin to have no “pay-to-play” athletics. Many of the athletes are able to participate in more than one sport.

Issue 26 is used for building maintenance, repairs, and educational support. Walking down the halls of each building, I see students working and learning in a clean and safe environment.

Without these renewal levies the schools could lose 10 percent of its operating budget. I hope you join me in voting yes for the two renewal levies.
