To the editor:
The Firelands Local School District has a chance to show how much they care about the kids in this community by supporting the upcoming school levy. It is the right thing to do for our kids and our community. Strong schools are an investment in your community.
Issue 7 is an urgent need for our students to stay competitive in their educational careers.
The middle school has outlived its effective lifespan as a viable option for educating our kids. The fact is, this building is simply not a safe environment for our kids. If you believe in and value the kids of this district, you will vote to put them in a safer environment, one that is Americans with Disabilities Act-complaint, has clean water, and has classrooms that are conducive to learning. The building needs hundreds of thousands of dollars in repair. It simply doesn’t make sense to sink more money into an outdated building. Doing so takes funds away from our students’ education. The problems with this building will only get worse. We simply cant keep putting Band-Aids on top of Band-Aids.
The fact is, we owe it to the students of the Firelands district to build them a new school. For the cost of a cup of coffee a day, we can help prepare our students for the next stage of their lives.
Please support the kids of the Firelands Schools and vote yes on Issue 7.
