Leaders paved the way for LCHD

To the editor:

Last month, Lorain County Health & Dentistry opened its fifth community health center site at 260 South Main St., Oberlin. Since then, we have had a wonderful amount of community and media interest in our newly built health center and the services we offer there. But for a moment I’d like to shine the spotlight on the Oberlin officials who helped us to make this happen.

From very early on, city and community leaders, including members of Oberlin city council, welcomed and encouraged our project. They answered our many questions, appropriately guided the design and planning process, and otherwise assisted my team to complete the project on time and budget.

In fact, it has been less than two years since I contacted the Oberlin city manager to inquire about a lot for sale — and already we are treating patients, in a beautiful facility, on that very lot.

I am sure city officials and council members will say they were just doing their jobs, and maybe that’s true. But the way they did them, respectfully and with support and encouragement, is worth noting.

Thank you, city leaders, and all of Oberlin, for your helping hand and warm welcome. We are thrilled to be in your community, and we look forward to seeing you at our grand opening in August!
