Consider Adelman’s experience

To the editor:

I write this letter in support of Heather Adelman for city council. As a resident, father, husband, and former city council member, my thoughts are always with the possibilities of Oberlin, Ohio. Small in size but mighty, Oberlin is a community that is rich with opportunity and potential.

Heather Adelman has a deep understanding of that potential. Heather Adelman’s commitment to the town and devotion to realizing its potential, make her an excellent candidate for Oberlin city council. She has brought her years of experience with the Environmental Protection Agency to bear in her work on environmental sustainability, with the Oberlin Project, as member of the Oberlin Resource Conservation and Recovery Committee, and with the Lorain County Solid Waste Management Policy Committee.

Her work as a member of the Oberlin Farmers Market board, a member of a family of local business owners, and her work with the Oberlin Food Hub demonstrates her understanding of the role of local based economic development in Oberlin’s future. And as a member of the Oberlin Community Services board, Heather Adelman has worked for the improvement of the lives of our community’s most vulnerable citizens. Heather Adelman has committed herself to the development of every level of the city of Oberlin. Her broad and unique experiences have merged into a singular vision that understands that each of these levels, every institution and all of us as citizens will either rise together or fall apart.

I believe that Heather Adelman has the experience, knowledge, insight and heart to serve on Oberlin city council. As a community we stand in a doorway ready to walk into a great future. We can either fall back or surge forward. I believe Heather Adelman, city councilperson, is a necessary part of Oberlin’s forward movement.
