The Lady Phoenix could not hold off the Independence Blue Devils Monday as they lost 4-0 in soccer action.
The girls came out strong in the first half, moving the ball well and stretching the field.
Oberlin’s defense continuously shut down Independence’s offensive attacks with the help of goalkeeper Kenzie Tallman.
Lady Phoenix’s Rhiannon McKee and Arianna Ambrosio controlled their offensive attacks and found holes in the Blue Devils defense. But the girls were unable to find the back of the net before Independence took over in the second half and started tallying up goal after goal.
Oberlin dropped its season opener 8-1 last Saturday to Cuyahoga Heights.
Junior Maya Peters scored the team’s lone goal.
The Lady Phoenix will host Open Door at 5 p.m. Monday.
