Four second-half goals seal 5-3 win

The Phoenix overcame a 3-1 deficit at halftime Friday to defeat Willard 5-3.

Willard controlled the pace of the game in the first half and broke down Oberlin’s defense. The Phoenix were only able to find the back of the net once in the first half of their home opener.

Senior Mark Woodson started Oberlin’s scoring drive early in the second half as the team had 12 shots on target.

Jack McMillin added two more goals to give his team a 4-3 lead.

The boys tightened their defense and did not allow Willard to get another shot on target.

Junior Justin Mason sealed the win with a shot in the final minutes of the game.

Oberlin will travel to Elyria to face the Pioneers at 5 p.m. Saturday.
