The Phoenix overcame a one-goal deficit last Thursday to defeat the Vermilion Sailors 2-1.

Vermilion’s Zach Kelly scored an early goal against Oberlin but Phoenix freshman Thayer Preston finished a header to tie the game.

Oberlin’s Justin Mason finished a 20-yard shot to give his team the lead before halftime.

The Phoenix locked down the Sailors offense to seal the victory and improve to 5-1 on the season.

The boys had a magnificent game last Wednesday with a 10-1 win over the Lake Ridge Academy Lions.

The Phoenix scored six goals by the end of the first half and the team did not back down in the last half to secure the victory.

Oberlin will travel to Brookside to face the Cardinals at 7 p.m. Saturday.
