The first win of the season for the Lady Phoenix volleyball team came Saturday in three straight sets.

Oberlin dominated the first set against the Hillsdale Falcons, winning 25-14.

The second set was a constant battle with Hillsdale but the girls sealed a 25-23 win.

Their strong defensive and attacking game at the net in the third set secured a 25-18 win as the Phoenix improved to 1-6 on the season.

The Columbia Raiders powered over the Lady Phoenix last Thursday for the victory in straight sets.

Columbia took the first 25-10 and Oberlin battled back in the second and third.

Freshman Courty Robinson had 17 aces on the night and Aszure Chamberlin and Robinson combined for 68 digs.

Anna Cameron, Bailey Wilbanks, and Chamberlin combined for 52 kills but could not overcome Columbia, losing 25-11 and 25-12.

The Lady Phoenix will travel to Fairview to face the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Thurday.
