The Clearview Clippers snipped the Lady Phoenix volleyball team’s momentum Monday to secure a win in straight sets.

Oberlin came out attacking Clearview at the net and had control of the game serving.

The Lady Phoenix dropped the first set 25-21 despite junior Aszure Chamberlin’s strong defense, digging 11 balls. She also had five kills on the night.

Senior Anna Cameron helped stop Clearview at the net with two blocks and four kills.

The Clippers held a steady lead in the second and third sets to win 25-14 and 25-10.

The Fairview Warriors defeated the Lady Phoenix last Thursday in straight sets.

Fairview took an early lead in the first set and kept their pace going to seal a quick 25-10 victory.

The Lady Phoenix regained their composure and fought back in the second set. Cameron led her team with seven kills and Chamberlin had 12 digs against the Warriors.

Oberlin fell 25-23 in the second set and the final set saw an easly back-and-forth battle before Fairview extended the lead and sealed a 26-16 win.

The Lady Phoenix fell in straight sets last Tuesday to the Brooklyn Hurricanes.

Oberlin’s Abi Tackett and Chamberlin led their team through a tough battle with Brooklyn but could not stop the Hurricanes’ net attacks.

Tackett and Chamberlin combined for 23 digs on the night.

The Lady Phoenix dropped the first set 25-20 even with Chamberlin’s seven kills and three aces.

Brooklyn took the second and third set 25-19 and 25-18 to steal the win.

Oberlin will travel to Buckeye to face the Bucks at 6:30 p.m. Thursday .
