Tennis

Four top-three finishes Saturday earned the Oberlin Phoenix co-ed tennis team a third place finish at the Lorain County Athletic Administrators Association tennis tournament.

Freshman Isabelle Olaes took home second place at first singles and older sister Claudia Olaes finished second at second singles.

Sophomore Ely Abrogast at third singles earned a sixth place finish and second doubles Kristin Sherrod and Koki Todaka finished third to help their team defeat six other teams for third place overall.

Track

Senior Jillian Doane was the lone Oberlin runner to take home a top place finish Saturday at the Lorain County Invitational.

Her 49.7-second run in the 300-meter hurdles earned her second place. Doane crossed the finish line less than a second behind Avon’s Kamryn Sharer.

The senior runner also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash preliminary run to advance to the finals. She finished sixth in the finals with a time of 27.14.

Oberlin’s Simon Perales took home sixth place with a time of 10:45.25 in the 3,200-meter run.

The Phoenix boys 4×800 meter relay team consisting of Caleb Hughley, David Castle, Alex Conklin, and Tam Cadenhead defeated five other teams to earn a seventh place finish with a time of 9:34.55.

Conklin also finished 14th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.47 seconds and Ty Cadenhead earned 11th place in the 800-meter run.
