Strong pitching by Oberlin’s Bryanna Rivas and Arianna Ambrosio this week helped the Phoenix defeat the Brooklyn Hurricanes, Olmsted Falls Bulldogs, Bay Rockets, and Fairview Warriors on the softball diamond.

The Lady Phoenix only gave up one run Monday to defeat the Warriors 5-1. Olivia Pfeifer and Rivas were outstanding at the plate, combining for three RBIs. Pfeifer went 2-2 with a double and Rivas went 2-4 with a double and triple.

A six run fourth inning Sunday lead the girls to a 12-1 mercy rule victory over Bay. Pfeifer crushed a home run and earned four RBIs on the night. Ambrosio was spectacular at the plate and in the circle. She had three doubles, three RBIs, and only gave up one run against the Rockets.

An RBI by Jayna Miceli and Rivas allowed the Lady Phoenix to top the Bulldogs 3-1 Saturday. Rivas also had a triple and earned the win in the circle.

Senior Rhiannon McKee had the game-winning hit last Tuesday (April 12) to lead her team with a 8-7 Patriot Athletic Conference win over the Brooklyn Hurricanes.

The Lady Phoenix held a 2-0 lead after two innings and the girls drove in another run in the third to extend their lead. Ambrosio went 2-4 at the plate, Pfeifer 3-3, and Makenzie Tallman 2-4. These three girls combined for seven RBIs.
