Northwestern was the only team that stood in Oberlin’s way Saturday from being the champions at the Black River JB Firestone tournament.

The Lady Phoenix took home second place after falling 6-0 in the championship game.

The girls eased their way into the big game after two shutouts pitched by Bryanna Rivas and Arianna Ambrosio.

Rivas led the way in the circle on game one against Chippewa, securing an 8-0 victory. She also went 2-2 with two doubles.

Jayna Miceli, Olivia Pfeifer, and Makenzie Tallman led the way at the plate tallying up two RBIs apiece.

Ambrosio was spot on in the second game against the Firelands Falcons, striking out 13 batters and only giving up two hits.

The Lady Phoenix defeated the Falcons 2-0, allowing the girls to advance to the championship game against Northwestern.
