Jean C. Weston


OBERLIN — Jean C. Weston, 92, died April 8, 2016. She was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Russia Township and was raised in Oberlin.

Jean was a 1941 graduate of Oberlin High School and a 1945 graduate of Oberlin College, majoring in psychology. On Nov. 3, 1945 she married her husband Tom. She had been employed as a paraprofessional and librarian at Eastwood Elementary School in Oberlin. Jean was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church, Oberlin. For many years she was a member and troop leader of Girl Scouts and a den mother in Cub Scouts and was involved in PTA as a past president and classroom mother.

Jean is survived by children Thomas J. Weston and Kathryn S. Vannatter, both of Oberlin, and Christine W. Gerberick of Ashland; grandchildren Michael, Jennifer, Michele, Courie, Cynthia, Paul, Joy, James, and Jesse; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Thomas F. Weston in 1998; son, Michael Paul Weston in 2005; daughter, Elizabeth A. Weston in 2007; parents James Paul and Kathryn H. Court; and sisters Kathryn Court and Carolyn McClellan.

A memorial service will be Saturday April 16, 2016 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 45 South Professor St., Oberlin. The Rev. Derek Kubilus will officiate. Burial will be at Milan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
